TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo has denied the statement made by the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA) regarding his monthly salary, which is claimed to reach Rp1.7 billion.
The amount certainly varies, depending on the Regional Real Income.
“That is not salary, but an operational benefit, it’s already [made known to the public],” he said at Istora Senayan on Sunday, December 1, 2013.
According to him, the money is not for his personal interests, but for social and emergency needs.
“For instance, if there is a fire, we’ll draw upon it,” he explained.
He claimed he did not remember the amount of his salary and the benefits he receive every month.
“I never manage it, just ask my secretary,” he said.
