TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian students have been, once more, carving their achievement in Asian level. The team of Indonesian elementary school (SD) students has won seven gold medals in The 3rd Asian Science and Mathematics Olympiad for Primary Schools (ASMOPS), held at Grand Royal Panghegar Hotel, Bandung, West Java on November 9 to 13.

Five gold medals, three silver, four bronze and Mathematic Top Scorer have been achieved in the theoretical mathematic category. In theoretical science category, the team has grabbed two gold medals, seven silver, four bronze and also a Science Top Scorer.

E-MOS team from Malaysia won the Best Team category, while Nigeria managed to achieve the special award of "Team with the Strongest Fighting Spirit".

ASMOPS was judged by a team of jury with international events' experiences. The jurors came from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Parahyangan, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Surya University, and GASING SU Center for Mathematics.

The representative of the jury team Sigit P. Santosa said the jurors were impressed to see all participants have passed the assessment with assessment system made for High school students. "It shows that the participating countries have sent their best students," said Sigit in a press release received by Tempo Friday.

The president of ASMOPS Teguh Triono said the competition will be a valuable teamwork experience for the students. "It needs to be developed considering the students will grow up among the society," he said.
