TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Yogyakarta Education Council chief Wuryadi, has asked all teachers to be active and take the initiative to develop designs for the new 2013 curriculum before even receiving the guide from the Education and Culture Ministry.

Wuryadi says the initiative of teachers and schools in designing the implementation of the 2013 curriculum is crucial to avoid regional dependency on technical guides from the central government.

Wuryadi said the active participation of teachers in implementing the 2013 curriculum could alleviate the weaknesses of the curriculum. He believes the paradigm of epistemology in the 2013 curriculum is its main weakness.

"It only revolves around the development of human qualities for supplying quality manpower. The orientation is too heavy on the aspect of humans and lacks environmental and Indonesian orientation," he said.

However, Wuryadi added that this weakness should not be an obstacle for teachers and schools to start reviewing the technical aspects for the implementation of this curriculum. Technically, the formulation can involve teachers for each subject, he said.
