Police General Djoko Susilo Arrested for Corruption

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested former National Police Traffic Division chief Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo yesterday on charges of corruption. Djoko was taken to the KPK Detention Center located at the Military Police Complex in Manggarai, east Jakarta. "Around 6.15 pm today, the investigators arrested Djoko Susilo, and he will be detained for 20 days in a Class I state penitentiary," KPK spokesperson Johan Budi SP announced at the KPK office on Dec. 3.The KPK detention center at the Guntur Military Police complex currently has two cells to accommodate four prisoners.Djoko will share his new digs with Zulkarnaen Djabar, a suspect in a bribery case linked to the Religious Affairs Ministry budget. Zulkarnaen was an ad hoc judge in the Pontianak anti-corruption court who was indicted for accepting bribes. He was moved to the Guntur detention center on Nov. 29.Djoko, a two-star general is charged with violating article 2, paragraph 1 or Article 3 of Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption as amended by Law No. 20/2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) the first in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code on his abuse of authority and his intent to personally enrich himself at the cost of state funds. He faces a maximum of 20 years imprisonment if he is found guilty.On July 27, the KPK indicted Djoko Susilo along with his former deputy, Brig.Gen. Didik Purnomo as well as with Budi Susanto, CEO of Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi, the company which won the tender to provide the Police with driving simulators and Sukotjo S. Bambang, director of Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia, a company subcontracted to be involved in the project.FEBRIYAN
