Oil and Gas Reserves in Sumenep Sufficient for 30 Years

TEMPO Interactive, Sumenep, Madura:Research conducted by the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator (BP Migas) has estimated that gas reserves in Sumenep reaches up to 6 trillion cubic feet and can be exploited for 30 years. A company, Energi Mineral Langgeng, has recently conducted gas exploration at the Saronggi District, said Sumenep Regency Energy and Mineral Resources Office Director Suprayogi on Sunday.Suprayogi said that BP Migas has confirmed that there are 10 oil and gas blocks located in the explored regions such as the Maleo Block, Kangean Block, North Kangean, Madura Strait, East Kangean, Southeast Madura, Sibarun Block, and North Sepanjang. Out of the 10 blocks, two have been exploited and two have been exploredthe rest are still untouched, Suprayogi added. Some companies which have conducted explorations are Husky Oil Madura at the Madura Block Strait off the waters of Raas Island, and Energi Mineral Langgeng at the Southeast Madura Block. Meanwhile, the companies which have begun exploiting the blocks are Santos at the Maleo Block and Kangean Energy at the Kangean Block.
