TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Minister of FinanceBudiono announced today (24/08) from the Ministry ofFinance in Jakarta that all matters relating to thesigning of IMF-Indonesia’s Letter of Intent (LoI) arebeing settled. “Right now, we just need to finalizethe wording of the documents. It’s now just aneditorial matter,” Budiono said.
He added that the IMF review team must still visitJakarta and return to Washington a couple of times toreport on the progress of their talks with Indonesia’seconomic team and to the IMF board of directors inWashington. “I’ve told you this a couple of times. We will have to wait for the results,” Budiono said inresponse to a question regarding the content of theLoI.
According to Budiono, the economic team is stillpreparing for a meeting of the Consultative Group onIndonesia (CGI) in November 2001. Among thepreparations that must be settled by Indonesia’seconomic team is the drafting of the 2002 StateBudget, including calculations of how much funds arerequired by Indonesia from donor countries. “I’m surethat we can settle the drafting of the budget beforethis November,” Budiono said regarding the problemsthat have been faced with the drafting the 2002 StateBudget.
Budiono also informed the press about the meetingbetween the Coordinating Minister for the EconomyDorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti and the World Bank. “One ofthe issues discussed was how well the negotiationsbetween the Economic team and the IMF wereprogressing,” he said.
