TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The annual session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) has been scheduled before November, while the special session will go ahead as planned in the first week of August. The materials of the two sessions are different, so the two sessions can not be held at the same time. “The MPR is concentrating on the special session,” the chairman of Ad Hoc committee Jacob Tobing told the press after a meeting at the legislature complex today (28/6).
At the moment the Ad Hoc committee is concentrating on drafting a decree for the special session. Consequently, the committee is not yet willing to discuss the material of the annual session. The decree relates to the readiness of the assembly to bear witness.
As reported, the special session will be held in August, but to hold the annual assembly at the same time was suggested as a way to economize, that is, save money. The idea has been rejected because the two sessions have very different agendas.
