TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The South Jakarta District Court has sentenced Dedi Sutaedi and Ferry Hukom to 1.4 years and 1.2 years respectively for forging fake ID Cards for Tommy Suharto. Dedi and Ferry have been found guilty of providing Tommy with fake ID cards, a passport, a birth certificate and other documentation under the name of Ibrahim. Tommy made use of these documents as a fugitive. Dedi and Ferry had helped Tommy by manipulating his real identity, thereby making things difficult for police who were pursuing Tommy as a fugitive. Tommy was on the run after having been convicted of corruption in a land-swap deal between the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and PT Goro Batara Sakti. Both Dedi and Ferry were found guilty of violating article 55 sub section 1 and article 263 sub section 1 of Criminal Code (KUHP). Dedi was shocked when he heard the sentence and told the press he would consider appealing. “I’m resigning myself to Allah and will just let my lawyer take care of the rest,” he said. Ferry also considered the sentence unfair. “Do you think I made fake ID cards myself? You can work it out yourself. I know nothing about law,” Ferry said. Dedi’s lawyer M. Sawir Achmad claims the justices had not paid close attention to this case and said he regretted their refusal to make Tommy the key witness.
