TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Inspector General Made Mangku Pastika, Head of the Bali bombing investigation team, has announced that the police are investigating a new suspect, Jim, who was allegedly the suicide bomber in Paddys Club, Kuta, Bali, last October 12. Pastika announced this after talking about the investigation into the Bali bombing during an ASEAN Workshop on Combating Terrorism at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday (20/1). According to Ali Imron [one of the suspects], Jim drove the L300 vehicle and parked it in front of the Sari Club, he explained, adding that Imron also said it was Jim who left the bomb. However, Pastika said he was not absolutely convinced about Imrons explanation. There is still some doubt as it is possible that he is putting the blamed on someone else, he said. As previously reported, the police arrested Imron last Monday (13/1) in Berukang Island, East Kalimantan, together with Mubarok. Imron was the field coordinator in the Bali bombing action and told police that he drove the L300 vehicle that brought the bomb and stopped at the Legian- Kuta T-junction. After that, Jim drove the vehicle. Now the police has been investigating Jims hiding place based on evidence provided by Imron. Pastika said he was not yet convinced whether Jim died as a victim or if he was the suicide bomber in the incident that has claimed more than 190 lives. (Wahyu Mulyono-Tempo News Room)
