Jakarta Police to Monitor Zakat Distribution

Jakarta : Jakarta Police said it will form a team to monitor the distribution of zakat by the well offs to the needy. Zakat is a compulsory donation for Moslems during Ramadan.
Police will require every distribution of zakat reported to the police before the being handed out.
Head of the Public Relation Division, Senior Commissioner Zulkarnain said his office have ordered its ressort police stations in five districts in Jakarta to monitor the distribution. Zulkarnain also asked Jakarta residents to carry out the distribution in orderly manner.
The statement came a day after an incident during a distribution of zakat in Pasuruanb East Java which killed 21 people.
