Judges to Hand Verdict on Tempo

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta : The Central Jakarta District Court was scheduled to proceed the hearing on libel case against Tempo on Tuesday. The court have twice suspended to read its verdict on the case, filed by Asian Agri Grioup, an agricultural company based in Jakarta.

The group owned by Sukanto Tanoto, one among several prominent businesses in the country that received the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance.

The group filed a civil lawsuit against Tempo magazine for its report on the groups tax evasion worth about Rp1,3 trillion, saying the report was inaccurate and contains judgment. The Tax Directorate at the Ministry of Finance is investigating the case.

The group was pursuing damages worth Rp 5,5 billion.
