TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Senior Deputy of the Bank of Indonesia (BI) Anwar Nasution said that the family of former president Suharto, popularly referred to as the Cendana family, are forbidden to become bidders for BCA shares. On Tuesday (15/1), Anwar said, “The family should be included in the list of ‘the disgraceful people’”. Anwar said the Cendana family could not buy any BCA shares because of its poor reputation. BI Director for Bank Supervision, Siti Fadjrijah, said that BI has been preparing a list of disgraced contenders since 1995. “So, we actually possess a list of people forbidden to become a part of a bank’s executive or even shareholders of a bank,” she said. Recently, BI asked IBRA to send a list of those people bidding for BCA shares because the bidding period was due to end on January 28. If the bidders’ documentation is not complete they will be failed or not recommended. “However, I can not explain how this will work yet,” Syahril said. (Ebnu Yufriadi-Tempo News Room)
