TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The House of Representatives (DPR) will question Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono regarding a clash between the Army’s Special Force (Kopassus) and the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) in Ambon. The House also plans to question the military and police chiefs in Maluku. “All of [the officials] have to clarify the incident. The DPR plan to question them on next Tuesday [21/5],” head of House Commission I, Ibrahim Ambong, told Tempo News Room on Thursday afternoon (16/5). He went on to say the clash that occurred between Kopassus and Brimob members that broke out in the Kudamati area of Ambon last Tuesday shows there is poor coordination between the military and police chiefs. “It even shows that the Ambon problem cannot be handled because of conflict between security forces,” said Ambong. However, he refused to comment as regards the possibility that military personnel had been one of reasons that triggered the conflict in Ambon. “We have to check this first, and that is why we will question Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs,” he said.
