TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Ibrahim Ambong, Chairman of the Defense Commission at the House of Representatives (DPR), has said that the Commission will summon Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Coordinating Minister of Political and Security Affairs, over the Peace Accord between Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). The DPR has said the agreement is not considered to be advantageous to Indonesia. We will summon the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs as soon as possible, as we consider there many things that are not advantageous. Ambong told reporters at the legislature complex on Thursday (16/1). In addition, the Defense Commission is greatly concerned over the shooting that has claimed many lives as well as the campaign to hold a referendum in Aceh. Some legislators have even criticized the peace accord that seemingly treats GAM as a nation, he said. According to Ambong, the Defense Commission has not yet received the report on the peace accord, and it therefore wants Minister Susilo Yudhoyono to clarify this. It was different with the case of Sipadan-Ligitan Islands. The Foreign Affairs Minister socialized the problem first, he said. Ambong quoted some members of the Defense Commission as saying that even the cabinet members do not understand the peace accord, including the general election to be held in Aceh. Even the Minister of Home Affairs do not understand it, he said. (Andi DewantoTempo News Room)
