Indonesian Diaspora, SMEs Actors Sign MoU to Encourage Exports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In order to continue to increase the export market penetration of Indonesian UKM-IKM (Small and Medium Enterprises-Small Medium Industries), the Empowerment Task Force of Indonesian Diaspora Network-United (IDN-United) SME-SMI Exports, Indonesian Diaspora SME-SMI Export Empowerment Development (ID-SEED), and Indonesia In Your Hand Network sign the Memorandum of Understanding with ten SME-SMI exporters on Friday, October 26, on the sidelines of the 2018 Indonesian Trade Expo (TEI) in Tangerang. The ten of the SME-SMI actors sells various products ranging from food and beverages to clothing and jewelry.
“In an effort to enter the global market, the continuous connectivity and synergy are needed, both with the representatives of the Indonesian government in the destination country and through the diaspora network in various countries. We are ready to facilitate and actively encourage Indonesian SME-SMI for promotion, branding and marketing to the global market,” said Ira Damayanti, Director of IDN-United’s SME-SMI Empowerment Task Force.
Indonesia In Your Hand Network CEO Amiranto Wibowo said, to face the industry 4.0 era, the current export development strategy cannot be separated from the e-commerce or electronic commerce.
“Marketing through e-commerce is a great way to introduce products on the free market and we have tools to help the SME-SMI to market their products to the markets of America, Australia, Europe and Dubai,” he said.
The contents of the MoU include the cooperation in the promotion and the marketing of SME-SMI abroad through the e-commerce platform by USA/Australia, In Your Hand webstore, and the overseas business representatives by Indonesian diaspora, with the export sales target ranging from US$10,000-100,000 within one year.
Also attending the signing of the memorandum of understanding included the Director General of National Export Development Arlinda Jazid, Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Sydney Agung Haris, and Jon Masli from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of North America Free Trade Association Standing Committee.
