Jokowi Hopes Jack Ma to Increase Alibaba Investment in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo delivered hopes to the CEO of Alibaba Group Jack Ma that the e-commerce firm would further increase its investment commitment in Indonesia.
“Thank you for the sustainable commitment in Indonesian e-commerce and economy sector. I’m waiting for a good news from you today related to Alibaba's commitment in Indonesia,” said Jokowi to Jack Ma in Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Saturday, September 1.

Jokowi mentioned his memorable visit in Alibaba Group headquarters in Hangzhou city, China, in September 2016, during the G20 summit. “I’m glad to know that during my visit in Hangzhou, Alibaba has furthered its commitment to invest more millions dollar in Indonesia,” he said.
Welcoming Jack Ma, the president was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Communication and Information Minister Rudiantara, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung, and Creative Economy Agency head Triawan Munaf.
Jack Ma made a visit to President Jokowi before his plan to attend the closing ceremony of the Asian Games on Sunday, September 1.
