TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno welcomed the plan on holding Jakarnaval on Sunday, July 8. As a metropolitan city, Sandiaga said, Jakarta should indeed present the art and culture parade enlivened by the community.
“I really appreciate it because every big city, such as New York, Boston, Singapore, has its own carnival. The parade is one of the joys,” said Sandiaga Wednesday, July 4.
Tourism and Culture Agency (Disparbud) head Tinia Budiati said this year’s Jakarnaval will be a huge event to promote Asian Games and Para Games 2018.
“Jakarnaval 2018 will be different than that in the past years because the previous parades display local culture and art across Indonesian provinces, and now we will especially bring the spirit of Asian Games and Para Games 2018,” said Tinia today in the city hall, Central Jakarta.
Jakarta administration did not establish Jakarnaval since two years ago hence it is expected to attract 500,000 visitors. In addition, a great carnival will also be held soon.
Approximately 4,000 participants from various backgrounds such as community, regional enterprises (BUMD), inter-sectoral institutions, and artists will join in the carnival. The parade is expected to display 70 ornamental and operational vehicles.
Jakarnaval 2018 which will be attended by Sandiaga Uno to be started with entertainment performances at 12:30 local time. The event will be wrapped up by several performances of legend musicians until 22:00 Jakarta time.
