TEMPO.CO, Medan - The National Search and Rescue Board (Basarnas) announced, after an extensive joint operation, that they have finally identified the final resting place of the KM Sinar Bangun ferry boat that capsized in Lake Toba.
“[The two recovery options are] currently being discussed in today’s meeting. We have found the target but are still looking for a way to retrieve the boat,” said Budiawan, Head of SAR office in Medan today, June 29.
Budiawan explained that the first option is to retrieve the capsized boat despite the prolonged time. The second option is to let go of the victim’s bodies to remain at the Toba Lake and honor the deceased by spreading flowers over the lake.
