TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The former lawyer of graft convict Setya Novanto, Fredrich Yunadi, defended his decision on his ownership of 36 firearms at his home. He claimed that it was necessary following the many threats he receives during his work as a lawyer.
He also said that he is not unfamiliar with firearms and maintained, “I must keep them for self-defense.” Furthermore, Fredrich said that he was first introduced with firearms roughly 30-years ago.
Fredrich explained that threats he receives upon handling lawsuits come in numerous forms such as being threatened by individuals arming themselves with firearms or sharp weapons. “I was once chased by hundreds of people that were armed with machetes. They wanted to hurt me,” he revealed.

Among the collection of firearms, Fredrich said that he favors the Austrian-made 9-millimeter caliber Glock 43 the most. “All of my guns have legal permits by the IKSA or firearm ownership permit,” he said.
His fondness towards firearms was publicly known after Fredrich attended a Youtube interview by Najwa Shihab on November 24, 2017. At the time, he claimed that he would not hesitate on shooting an individual that he sees as a threat. “I will shoot the person on street immediately. I will not hesitate, I have my permits,” he boldly said.
Fredrich is a defendant for hampering authorities and the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigation against e-KTP graft suspect Setya Novanto. Fredrich Yunadi has allegedly conspired with Bimanesh Sutarjo, a doctor at the Medika Permata Hijau Hospital.
