Govt Receives 8,000 Complaints of Pornography Contents

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology received 8,575 reports on negative contents, including pornographic contents in the internet during January 2018.

The ministry's Acting Head of Public Relations Bureau, Noor Ihza, revealed the most negative content is pornography with 8,166 reports. In the second place is the online scam with 144 reports. Next is the copyright violation with 112 reports and online gambling with 104 reports.

The ministry has blocked 787,662 negative contents from total complaints of 60,135 negative contents throughout 2017.

Communication Minister Rudiantara said 60,135 reports on negative content came through government's e-mail, WhatsApp, and aduankonten.id on TRUST+Positif applications.

According to the minister, the highest complaint during 2017 is the pornographic sites, which are about 19,778 complaints.

There are 16,742 public complaints on ethnic, religious, racial, and intergroup issues (SARA). But the minister only managed to block 183 sites.

Meanwhile for online gambling sites, the communication ministry has also blocked 7,443 sites from the total of 7,246 complaints throughout 2017.
