TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An accident occurred in construction site of railway project on Matraman Raya Street, Jatinegara, East Jakarta. Acrane collapsed on Sunday (4/2). "The accident took place at around 5 a.m.," community unit 6 chief of Kampung Melayu sub-districtMohammad Alwi said on the site.
Due to this accident, four workers died and three to five workers were injured. "They were evacuated this morning to Premier Hospital inJatinegara," Alwi said.
Alwi explained that he heard a very loud sound and he went to the scene to check what happened. Turned out, the crane used to build double-double track collapsed.
He then rushed to wake the residents up using a loud speaker. He asked them to get out of their houses. "I was worried that the crane fell on the houses while they were sleeping," he said.
Jatinegara Police and Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency are now at the scene of the accident.
