Asian Games to Involve 20,000 Jakarta`s UMKM

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno stated that Asian Games 2018 will involve more than 20,000 of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) from all over Jakarta.

"We want to involve 20 to 25 thousands UMKM in terms of the distributionIn terms of production, it will reach 300 to 350 thousand. A lot of UMKM will sell their products," Sandiaga Uno said in Jakarta Creative Hub on Saturday (13/1).

The pancontinental event held every four years will take place in Jakarta and Palembang from Agustus 18 to September 2, 2018.

Sandiaga explained that Jakarta provincial administration is collecting data on the UMKM planning to participateHe believes that this is required to be carried out early.

"We learn from the last Sea Games and if we do not learn from past mistakes, it will happen again in which we received late confirmations (in the last Sea Games)," Sandiaga Uno said.

Sandiaga assessed that UMKM has limitation in terms of funds and production timeHe continued that production will begin now and be coordinated by Inasgoc dan Kemenpora. For funding issues, Sandiaga went on, Jakarta administration will facilitate UMKM to work with banks.
