Indian Tourists Visiting Bali Increased by 50 Percent

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Some 222,516 Indian tourists visited Bali between January and October 2017. The number represents an increase of 79,052 people or 55.10 percent compared to the same period last year.

“Most came via Ngurah Rai Airport flying directly from their country and only 1,400 came via seaports by cruise ships,” Bali Statistics Agency (BPS) chairman I Gede Nyoman Subadri said in Denpasar on November 28.

He said that India has become the fourth largest tourist source for the Island of the Gods behind China, Australia and Japan.

Tourists arrivals from India make up 4.43 percent of 5.02 million foreign tourists visiting Bali from January to October 2017. The amount represents a 23.30 percent increase or 948,917 people compared to the same period last year.

I Gede Nyoman Subadri explained that the number of arrivals from eight out of ten tourist source for Bali have increased, whereas those of two others i.e. Australia and Malaysia have dropped.

There are 55.10 percent more Indian tourists visiting Bali, behind China that increased by 57.06 percent, followed by South Korea with 26.77 percent, Germany with 19.18 percent, the United States with 15.39 percent, Japan with 12.27 percent and France 10.09 percent.
