TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto has been under the nation’s spotlight for his public runs-in with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the last couple of weeks.
Throughout his political career, Setya often places himself in positions that would incriminate him with offenses that are unethical or against the law. Such as the moment when he attended one of President Donald Trump’s presidential rally back in 2015 that caused quite the stir, up to his alleged role in the electronic ID card or e-KTP graft case.
But behind many of his alleged offenses, the following are several lesser known facts about the Golkar Party Chairman's past.
1. Setya was officially a ‘handsome man’
Not many people know that Setya Novanto once enrolled in a modeling world at the age of 21. He was named as Surabaya’s Most Handsome Man back in 1975, which was confirmed by his current wife Deisti Astriani Tagor in an interview broadcasted on Youtube.
