TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wisnu Pramono, the director of foreign workers control at the Manpower Ministry, said that the working permits for migrant workers employed by Hotel Alexishave expired since October 20, 2017.
Wisnu added that Hotel Alexis employed 16 foreign workers who were registered at the Ministry based on a record for the period of January-November 2017. “15 workers are Vietnamese and another one is an Uzbekistani,” he told Tempo via a text message on Wednesday, November 1.
Contrary to the data, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan earlier said that as many as 104 foreign workers were employed by Hotel Alexis. They came from Thailand, China, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

According to Wisnu, the government may impose sanctions against Hotel Alexis due to the data discrepancy. The Ministry may also take further actions by deporting the foreign workers.
“The authority [to take the measures] is in the hands of the Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency,” he said.
To this date, Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency head Priyono has responded to a request for confirmation from Tempo.
Earlier on Wednesday, four officials with the Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency came to Hotel Alexis to investigate the status of the foreign workers. After meeting the hotel management, the officials remained tight-lipped about the investigation results.
