TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has decided to revoke Hotel Alexis and Alexis massage therapy clinic business permits.
“We firmly do not want Jakarta to become a city that tolerates prostitution practices,” said Anies at the City Hall on Monday, October 30.
The new Jakarta Governor had profusely reiterated his intentions since his campaign days. Anies decided to do so following public and media reports regarding the hotel. His decision is stated in a reply letter sent by the Jakarta Investment Agency and One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) on October 27.

The decision not to renew the business permit is based on Regional Regulation No. 12/2013, Regional Regulation No. 1/2014, Tourism Minister Regulation No. 18/2016, and others.
“We have made the decision to not allow the continuation of Alexis’ business permit. It is currently underway and we will keep an eye on it,” said the former Education and Culture Minister.
The issuance of the letter, according to Anies, is the government’s legitimacy to close the business. This means that Alexis is prohibited to run any kinds of businesses after the permit expires.
