TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video uploaded by an Instagram account @tni_indonesia_update recently became viral, which – as the Instagram account suggested – showed several members of the police force conducting a supposed training exercise by firing a rocket-propelled grenade or RPG.
Responding to the backlash the video received, Inspector General Setyo Wasisto, Head of National Police Public Relations said that he would need to clarify it first.
“Their uniforms are green, exactly the same as the Indonesian army,” said Setyo through a telephone interview on September 27.
Setyo is not able to identify and confirm yet whether the people in the video are indeed police members or not. Regarding if the people are members of the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) as commenters of the video suggested, Setyo further said that he will confirm it first with the Brimob coordinating commander.
An RPG is widely known as a military grade weaponry, that can only be used exclusively by members of the military for war purposes.
