Indonesia, Bangladesh Discuss Humanitarian Aid for Refugee

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi met with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Mahood Ali to discuss Indonesia`s humanitarian aid plan for the Rohingya refugees currently being accommodated by Bangladesh.
The Indonesian Government seeks to address the humanitarian problems in Rakhine thoroughly and comprehensively.
The meeting was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, as posted on the Foreign Ministry's twitter page as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday.

Minister Retno has communicated with Mahood Ali before and stated that Indonesia is ready to assist the Bangladesh in addressing the refugee matter.
"I have spoken to the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister several times and talked about the help that we can give to the Government of Bangladesh to address the refugee problem," he said.
According to Retno, the Government of Bangladesh gave a positive response and appreciated Indonesia's offer for assistance.
"Regarding the form, we will have more discussions. Let me say that President Joko Widodo is very concerned about the situation and asked me to ask them what help we can give to Bangladesh regarding refugees," she said.
