TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government and a number of human rights groups plan to build two hospitals worth Rp30 billion for Rohingya refugees in Rakhine, Myanmar. The fund to build the hospitals comes from public donations and human rights groups in Indonesia.
Deputy Foreign Minister Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir said Indonesia opts for an inclusive and comprehensive approach to the conflict in Rakhine.
"Everyone must be involved—the government, human rights (groups), and the people of Myanmar," he said in Jakarta Friday, March 17.
The hospital construction plan is a follow-up to Indonesia's sustainable help program for the Rohingya Muslims. In 2014, Indonesia and several human rights groups built four schools.
Now, the plan is to build two hospitals in two areas. "The hospitals will serve to treat some 2,000 people—Muslims and Buddhists," Fachir said.
