TEMPO.CO, Palembang - The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) chief Comr. Gen. Suhardi Alius has revealed new terrorist modus operandi.
"Chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear substances may be used," Suhardi said yesterday, August 3, during a working visit in Palembang.
In view of the potential threats, according to Suhardi Alius, the government and the people ought to cooperate to remain vigilant in order to face radicalism and mitigate terrorism.
"All resources in regions must be ready and improvement of local stakeholders’ capacity is needed to face any forms of threats," he said.
The former police criminal investigation unit director stressed the importance of the Regional Intelligence Community (Kominda) in detecting potential acts of terror and radicalism.
BNPT chief Suhardi Alius was in Palembang to attend a coordinated meeting of South Sumatra intelligence community on the handling of race and religious conflicts and counterterrorism in the province.
