TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara is confident that the tax dispute between the Finance Ministry and Google will end well. His confidence stems from the fact that Google has made an agreement with the government about their tax payments in 2016.

"The tax settlement is handled by the Finance Ministry. So far, the development is positive," Rudiantara told Tempo in Jakarta Wednesday, June 14.
Google has unpaid taxes since September 2016, based on its Rp11 trillion income. If Google abandons the liability, they could be fined with an amount of penalized four times the amount of unpaid taxes.
Rudiantara said Google will settle their taxes as they wouldn’t want to tarnish their own finances and administration, which would be bad publicity.
"Their image value in Southeast Asia is higher than the value of the settlement," Rudiantara said.
