TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta traffic Police predicted that the returning flow of this year's homecoming would occur on July 9 and 10, 2016. Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono said that the Traffic corps had prepared a strategy to prevent severe traffic jams from happening.
"Civil servants will resume their offices on Monday [July 11, 2016]. So the peak of the returning flow is predicted to occur on Saturday and Sunday," Awi told Tempo on Friday, July 8, 2016.
Awi explained that the Jakarta Police had prepared traffic engineering to anticipate a large number of vehicles returning to Jakarta. Awi also called on public to arrange their schedules to avoid traffic jams.
"We will conduct traffic engineering in a number of spots, including at Kilometer 62 Rest Area. In case of traffic jams, we will apply a contraflow system at Kilometer 65 to 60," Awi said.
The contraflow system, Awi added, would also be applied at Kilometer 52 and 55 rest areas, as well as at Cikarang Utama toll gate to reduce traffic jams.
