TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has stated the potential of rainfall on Riau hotspots is still in minimum scale. Bright and smoky weather were still dominating several regions.

Light rain is expected to fall on Riau west coasts regions, which are Kampar, Rokan Hulu, and Pekanbaru. The rain is believed to slightly reduce the shrouding smoke.

"The rainfall is still in light scale, it's not even on every region," said Indah Devi Nugraha, Pekanbaru BMKG Analyst, to Tempo on Sunday, February 16.

According to Indah, Terra and Aqua satellite has detected 79 hotspots spread across regencies and cities in Pekanbaru. The number has decreased greatly from the previous day where 661 hotspots had been detected.

The biggest hotspots remained in Bengkalis with 35 hotspots, and followed by Siak (12), Dumai (10), Pelalawan (9), Rokan Hilir (8), Meranti (3), and Indragiri Hilir (2). Indah said that the air temperature is monitored as normal, which is between 32 and 34 Celsius degree with two kilometers visibility.
