TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI-P Central Board Chairman Hendrawan Supratikno said his party is still finalizing the list of priority of the vice presidential (VP) candidate for Joko Widodo (Jokowi). There are three to five names on the priority list for the VP candidate.

“There are three to five names on the priority list. PDI-P has a long list, short list, and priority of vice presidential candidate,” Hendrawan said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 10.

Hendrawan said the long list consists of 15-20 names, the short list consists of 5-10 names and priority list consists of 3-5 names. According to him, the names on the short list and priority list are only known by PDI-P Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri.

He also claimed not to know who is on the short list and priority list, but for the long list, there are Muhaimin Iskandar and Mahfud MD.

“(Muhaimin) on the long list, but whether he is on the short list and priority list, only the PDI-P Chairman and Jokowi know,” he said.

Hendrawan could not ensure whether the names of non-party figures in the vice presidential candidate list is a sign of a tendency of figures outside the chosen political party. According to him, Megawati has the authority to include the names of candidates in the vice presidential list that will accompany Jokowi. To be sure, according to him, the coalition parties have been invited to communicate to discuss the vice presidential candidate, especially on the priority list.

General Chairman of United Development Party or PPP Romahurmuziy had said that Jokowi has listed 10 names that will be the vice presidential candidate and the names have been submitted to the chairman of the party supporters. He did not reveal the names but only mentioned they came from among politicians, intellectuals, retired TNI Police, technocrats and professionals.
