TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry's Air Transportation Directorate General is asking state airport operator Angkasa Pura (AP) I to renovate Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport on time and on target. The work completion is expected in July.

The airport will serve as the main access for participants of the 2018 International Monetary Fund IMF annual meeting from October 8 to 14.

"The IMF Annual Meeting is a large-scale, prestigious international event. As a host, indonesia surely must provide maximum services,” Air Transportation director general Agus Santoso, said in Jakarta, Monday, Feb. 26.

It is estimated that 23 heads of states will participate in the IMF Annual Meeting along with 17,000 mber delegates from 189 nations. IMF chief Christine Lagarde will attend the event, and the former France Finance Minister is scheduled to meet with President Joko Widodo.

As Ngurah Rai airport operator, AP1 will renovate and add facilities to the airport. Physical renovations include the addition of two rapid exit taxiways, 11 parking stands in the north apron,  40 units if check in counters for international flights, and a five-storey parking building to accommodate 748 vehicles.
