Christmas Holidays, Cikampek-Jakarta Toll Road Congested

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jasa Marga AVP Corporate Communication Dwimawan Heru said that the traffic at the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road showed signs of congestion increase just one day after Christmas day holiday. The toll road heading to Cikampek was visibly congested.
There were several minor traffic disturbance KM 40+200 where a truck broke down by the side of the road and at KM 66 where a vehicle was involved in an accident. “It is being handled,” said Heru.
Heru said that the traffic congestion at the toll road heading to Jakarta is predicted to rise from noon to midnight. There are 90,000 vehicles that are expected to head to Jakarta nearing the end of the Christmas mass-leave.
“Traffic congestion is predicted to rise at the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. 90,520 vehicles are expected to pass through the Cikarang Utama toll-gate,” said Heru. It will be a 27.49 percent increase from 2016 compared to normal traffic of 71,000 vehicles.
Yesterday, the traffic volume during Christmas Day reached 72,193 vehicles which were a 1,7 percent increase compared to the usual days. There were 85,762 vehicles that passed through the Cikarang Utama toll-road gate on Monday or a 22.5 percent increase.
