TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Timnas (national football team) coach Luis Milla is pleased with a 3-1 win over Cambodia in a friendly match held yesterday at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi. He said that the players successfully followed his instructions.
“With regard to the match, I’m very pleased; we played extremely well in the first half. Everything that we wanted, everything that was said before the game, was executed brilliantly,” Milla said after the game on Wednesday, October 4.
He went on to say that he is pleased that the strategy to integrate the existing players and new ones from the Indonesia U-22 squad has worked well. Milla selected three U-22 players to start the match: Rezaldi Hehanusa, Febri Haryadi, dan Septian David Maulana.
Febri provided an assist from a corner to Lerby Eliardi, while Rezaldi and Septian scored one goal each in the game. Milla said that in the second half, the Garuda Team’s performance dropped and they lost the ball a lot.
Eight changes made in the second half were not good enough, Milla said. Indonesian Timnas did not play aggressively in the first half, he added. “I expect the organization to be better. But overall, I’m pleased with today’s game,” said the Spanish coach.
