
TEMPO.CO, Pontianak - Pontianak Police has successfully captured an international drug syndicate who were delivering 18 kilograms of meth in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
“The arrest was conducted by the Jatanras (Crime and Violence) unit. The meth was concealed inside the tire of a Fortuner (SUV),” said the Pontianak Police Chief Commissioner Iwan Imam Susilo on Monday, November 7, 2016. A foreign citizen was also captured.
The drugs were hidden inside a car's spare tire of (Toyota Fortuner) that was parked in the garage. The suspect is allegedly a Malaysian citizen. The identity of the suspect will be announced at a press conference this afternoon in West Kalimantan.
Police estimate that the drugs distributed through the border of West Kalimantan and Malaysia. There are at least five official gates; three of which are Checkpoint Posts and the other two are Border Posts.
The most vulnerable route are Jagoi Babang, Bengkayang District, which have easy access and adequate infrastructures. “Currently, we’re still conducting an investigation into this drug network, assisted by West Kalimantan Police,” Iwan said.
