TEMPO.CO, Merak - ASDP Indonesia Ferry plans to deploy 27 Roll-on Roll-off ferries to shuttle homecoming travellers during the 2016 Eid al-Fitr holiday season, to anticipate a surge in the number of passengers and vehicles that will cross over the Sunda Strait to Sumatra from the Port of Merak.

"We are optimistic that the 27 ferries will be able to accommodate all passengers than plans to utilise our services to return to their hometowns during the holiday season," said the Manager for Merak's ASDP Ferry Indonesia, Nana Sutisna in Banten on Saturday, May 28, 2016.

Currently, the numbers of vehicles and passengers have yet to surge, but the numbers are expected to surge around three days prior to the Eid al-Fitr day - as such, ASDP Ferry Indonesia said that the 27 ferries will be operating 90 return trips between the port of Merak and Bakauheni in Lampung.

Furthermore, ASDP Indonesia Ferry plans to increase the efficiency of their services by accelerating their loading and unloading time from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. "We are committed to provide the best service to all passengers - both in terms of comfort, as well as safety," said Sutisna.
