TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) signed a US$24 million worth of cooperation fund on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. The cooperation includes the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2016-2020, Programme Document, and the Multi Years Work Plan (MYWP) 2016-2017, three programs focusing on health, demographic and gender equality issues.
Subandi Sardjoko, Deputy of Human, Community and Culture Development of the National Development Planning Ministry said that the fund is a form of aid channeled by the UNFPA "according to an agreement in the MYWP 2016-2017."
Subandi explained that the cooperation between the government and the UNFPA will be coordinated by the National Development Planning Ministry together with the Health Ministry, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry, National Commission on Anti-Violence against Women, the National Agency on Demography and Family Planning, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
Subandi added that the cooperation with UNFPA refers to the National Medium-Term Development plan for 2015-2019.
Head Representative of UNFPA Indonesia Annette Sachs Robertson said that the CPAP reflects well-planned cooperation between the UNFPA and Indonesia. "I believe the program [which have been initiated for nine consecutive times] will be better with the new standards," Robertson said.
