TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following previous successes in Singapore and Tokyo, Tech in Asia finally held “Tech in Asia Jakarta 2015” at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, on November 11-12, 2015.
This year, Tech in Asia set a target to achieve 3,885 visitors, which is higher than last year’s 2,202. As an online technology forum in Asia, Tech in Asia expected to gather 240 local and international startup businesses.
“Indonesia is an interesting market,” Tech in Asia COO Andrew Wang said on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
Despite technological advances, Wang added, about 200 million people in Indonesia have not been aware of opportunities to be seized. According to Wang, lack of investors has been an issue in online business development. Therefore, Tech in Asia invited 60 investors who had expressed their interest to invest in online technology.
“We predicted that there’s approximately US$1 billion to be invested,” Wang revealed.
In addition, Tech in Asia has also been a forum for developers, media and students. Several speakers scheduled to attend the event include Trade Minister Thomas Trikasih Lembong, Amazon CTO Dr. Warner Vogels, Ideosource managing partner Andi Boediman, and local celebrity and 8Wood online shop founder Alice Noorin.
