TEMPO.CO, Kupang - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has been elected host for Melanesia festival that will be rolled starting from October 26 to 30 in Kupang. Representatives from seven countries and five provinces will be participating in the festival including Indonesia, Timor Leste, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
The event is concentrated in four points namely El Tari Hall for film screening, Cultural Park for cultural event, museum for exhibition and a hotel in Kupang for symposium.
“The preparation has been 90 percent. We make sure that tomorrow everything is ready for this event,” Head of NTT Education and Culture Agency, Piter Manuk told Tempo on Saturday, October 24.
Minister of Education and Culture Anies Baswedan is also confirmed to attend the festival. He will become one of the speakers in the Melanesia national seminar.
“The Minister is confirmed to attend on October 28,” Piter added.
Countries known to be home for Melanesian race include Fiji, Papua New guinea, Timor Leste, Solomon Islands and five provinces of Indonesia.
