Pertamina Seeks Collaboration with Kuwait Petroleum

TEMPO.CO, Serang - State oil company PT Pertamina (Persero) is asking Kuwaiti oil company, Kuwait Petroleum Company, to collaborate in a number of oil projects. The collaboration will include oil explorations and refinery constructions in Indonesia.
"Kuwait is interested to collaborate with us in the upstream business," Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto said after accompanying Vice President Jusuf Kalla met with Kuwait Petroleum representatives on Monday, August 31.
According to Dwi, Kuwait Petroleum is also interested in the development of the petrochemical business as well as human resource development.
The National Energy General Plan (RUEN) draft compiled by the National Energy Board on August 10 included important policies and projects in the field of energy for 2015-2050. The RUEN will be ratified in the form of a presidential decree.
"This is a historical achievement because for the first time we are setting a guidance in developing the national energy sector," said chief executive of the National Energy Board Sudirman Said, who is also the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The 2015-2050 National Energy Plan covers several sectors. In the oil sector, the policies include the development oil production through the construction and revitalization of oil refineries, reducing fuel import gradually until it reaches 0 percent in 2025, and reducing crude oil exports gradually until it reaches 15 percent in 2025.
In the natural gas sector, the government aims to reduce the export of natural gas until it reaches 0 percent in 2040. In the coal sector, the government will control and limit coal production to just 400 million tons starting in 2019.
Lastly, in the renewable energy sector, the government plans to build renewable energy power plants on a large scale.
