TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said that the government had prepared the tax holiday policy as a part of the economic policy package aimed at boosting the country’s foreign exchange income and maintaining the economy at the macro level.
“[The policy] will take public purchasing power into account. We will prepare the package,” Bambang said at the Presidential Palace complex on Thursday, August 27.
Bambang added, the government had also prepared policies covering fiscal and non-fiscal stimulus.
Earlier, the government announced that it would release an economic policy package aiming at boosting foreign fund flows into the country.
Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo asked the policy package to be immediately drafted and issued in the near future.
“It’s related to the real sector, finance, deregulation and tax holiday,” Darmin said.
Darmin admitted that the policy package was to be issued as a result of rupiah weakening. Darmin added that the policy package was expected to be released next week.
“The policy must be immediately issued due to an urgent demand on foreign exchange,” he said.
