TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama confirmed that he would attend his first interrogation at the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate as a witness in a graft case surrounding the procurement of uninterrupted power supply (UPS) devices for schools and offices included in one of the draft 2014 city budgets.

“I’ll go to the National Police headquarter at 10.00 a.m. after a meeting with the Jakarta Police chief,” Ahok said at the Jakarta Police headquarter on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.

Ahok said that he did not make any special preparation to answer Bareskrim’s summons since he had submitted all documents related to the case.

“I have memorized all of the data,” he added.

According to Ahok, Bareskrim would still need his statement as important evidence if the case went to a trial. Ahok added that the summons had been sent yesterday, but he admitted that he had not received the letter yet.

Ahok, who is a former of East Belitung regent, will undergo a probe as a witness in relation to the graft case involving Alex Usman and Zaenal soleman. Alex and Zaenal allegedly mark up the UPS procurement funds in the city budget, causing a state loss of Rp 50 billion (US$3.8 million).
