TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  Industrial Minister Saleh Husin expected that PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (PT IAMII) could export 50 percent of its total production. The Minister expressed his request during the inauguration of a new Isuzu assembling plant at the Suryacipta industrial area in East Karawang on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.

"The construction of the new factory is expected to provide a larger contribution towards the Indonesian economy," Saleh said in a press conference following the inauguration event.

Not only increasing the value of investment in Indonesia, the new factory will also create new job opportunities and increase the number of local suppliers in the company's production activities.

The new factory will be focused on manufacturing light truck vehicles such as the Isuzu Elf and the middle-class truck variant the Isuzu GIGA.

Built with an investment value of Rp 1.3 trillion, the factory requires1,000 laborers to operate and will involve about 136 tier-1 industrial components companies and 544 tier-2 industrial components companies.

Minister Saleh claimed that he appreciated the trust and commitment of Isuzu Motor Limited Japan and its business partner PT Astra International Tbk that continue to invest in Indonesia and made Indonesia as the basis for its commercial vehicle production.
