TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Budi Karya Sumadi, President Director of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, has assessed Adisucopto airport in Yogyakarta, and he feels that it is increasingly inadequate.
According to Budi, in terms of quality and volume, the airport is no longer able to accommodate the increasing number of air travellers landing in Yogyakarta.
"There must be a new airport. Yogyakarta urgently needs it,” he said on Saturday, 21 March 2015.
Budi also said that there must be a study on how to immediately build a new airport for the city. He suggested that if land clearing in Kulonprogo for the new airport is to be completed quickly, then planning for the airport has to be accelerated.
PT Angkasa Pura II has been making efforts to build multiple new airports, one of which is to build a new international airport in Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java.
