TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Recently, Indonesia deployed two Sukhoi fighter jets and several security personnel to escort an aircraft that had trespassed into its airspace. China, however, has a different strategy for dealing with those trespassing into its territory.
Recently, China dealt with a mapping drone that had strayed into its controlled airspace by deploying not only fighter jets, but also helicopters, military vehicles, and thousands of troops— simultaneously.
According to a China Daily report quoted by Channel News Asia on October 23, 2014, 2 fighter jets, 2 helicopters, 123 military vehicles, 26 radar technicians, as well as 1,226 military personnel were deployed when an unauthorized airplane was spotted on China's air force radars in December 2013.
The cavalcade escorted the aircraft to safety, but as a result, 10 flights out of Beijing's Capital Airport had to be delayed to ensure the safety of the travellers.
Further investigation showed that the 2.3-meter-long aircraft is actually an unmanned drone owned by an aviation research company that was on a survey and mapping mission. Two man that had control over the drone was arrested, followed by a third man shortly.
The case is still being heard in court.
