TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has yet to receive reports on the status of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik in relation to the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) suspecting the latter of involvement in a blackmail case.

“We have not reported it [to the president] specifically, just from the media,” presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha told the press on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. He added the state palace was still awaiting updates from the anti-graft body.

Julian said he had not been informed yet either by the president as to the kind of measure the latter would take in response to Jero’s case. “Just wait until everything is clear, okay,” he said via text message.

Earlier, KPK czar Abraham Samad said the commission had found indicators of alleged blackmailing by the minister during his term as Tourism and Culture Minister and that Jero also received bribe money.

Abraham said that Jero’s “receiving the money can be categorized as blackmail” and the KPK would soon announce Jero’s status in the case.

When asked about the case, Jero said he would leave it in the hands of law. “Let’s just respect and leave everything to the law,” he said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Monday, September 1, 2014.
