TEMPO.CO, Paris - Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has launched the '2014 World Press Freedom Index' to mark the World Press Freedom Day that fell on May 3. The list ranks countries in the world based on the press freedom that happens in each countries. On the list, Finland is ranked the first while North Korea ranked the worst.

Sitting at the second and third position are the Netherlands and Norway. Both countries have not moved from the same position since last year. Indonesia sits on the 132nd position of the total 180 countries.

According to the RSF, three countries having the worst press freedom are Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea. On its website, RSF stated that "freedom of information is non-existent" in the three countries.

The ranking of some countries has also been affected by a tendency to interpret national security needs in an overly broad and abusive manner to the detriment of the right to inform and be informed.
